Privacy Notice
Handwriting Repeater is designed so that nothing you type or record leaves your device. This notice explains what that means, what little is stored, and your rights under UK data protection law. It was last updated on 24 September 2026.

Who Is Responsible For Your Data?
The data controller is the operator of handwritingrepeater.co.uk, trading as Handwriting Repeater. You can contact us about anything in this notice at [email protected].
What Does The Tool Do With What I Type Or Record?
Nothing. Text you type, names you paste into name mode, and handwriting you record are processed in your browser. They are not sent to our servers and they are not stored by us. Close the page and they are gone, unless you choose to save them on your own device.
This matters most in school. There is no account to create, and no pupil name, photograph or piece of writing is ever collected.
What Is Stored On My Device?
The tool remembers a few settings in your browser's local storage, so you do not have to set them again:
- your chosen handwriting style and "Our school style"
- lines, speed and other display settings
- saved recordings and checklists, if you choose to save them
- your cookie choice
These stay on your device. You can remove them at any time by clearing site data in your browser, or with the "Clear all my saved data" button in the tool's settings.
Do You Use Analytics?
We use cookieless analytics to count visits and which features are used, so we can improve the site. It sets no cookies, does not track you across other sites, and never records what you type, names or handwriting. The counts are anonymous and cannot identify you.
Do You Show Advertising?
Some guide pages show advertising from Google AdSense. Ads are never shown on the tool, the games or the worksheet generator. Google uses cookies to show and measure ads only if you agree in our cookie settings. If you decline, you see fewer, non-personalised ads, and the site works exactly the same. See the cookie notice.
What About Children's Data?
Children use tools like this one, so we follow the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code. In practice: high-privacy settings by default, no accounts, no profiling, no location tracking, no scores stored, no leaderboards, and no messages designed to keep children on the page. Anything a child types or draws stays on the device.
If I Email You
We use your email address and message only to reply, and keep them for 12 months so we can follow up. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests in responding to you.
What Are My Rights?
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Because the tool stores nothing about you on our side, there is usually nothing to find, but you can still ask.
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
